Dune: Spice Wars Wiki

Provinces are regions or locations on Arrakis that players can explore. Provinces are spread out around the map and contain resources such as spice fields, or natural resources; certain Provinces may also contain damaged Ornithopter's which can be recovered for intel or materials.

Description[edit | edit source]

Starting Out[edit | edit source]

Players start out at their main base with one Ornithopter and at least one spice resource nearby which can be discovered if players set their Ornithopter to explore. All main base provinces regardless of the faction contain an initial level of resource gain to get players started — this varies, however, and is randomly generated when the map is initially loaded.

Players should set out to explore nearby Provinces as soon as they are able to. If players are able to, it may help for them to construct and commission a second Ornithopter as soon as possible if they wish to explore nearby Provinces at a faster rate.

Players can take an overall look at the map of Arrakis to gather information about possible provinces or Villages nearby without having to explore them. Each Province has numerous resources players can exploit, these are usually a Village, a point of interest, and a resource. Players can garner which resources a Province has by hovering over the Province:

  • 1 shield indicates that a Province has a single town;
  • 2 shields indicates a town and a resource.

Resources[edit | edit source]

Resources that can be found within Provinces are usually advantageous for players wishing to improve yields for their Village buildings. These are as follows:

Special Provinces[edit | edit source]

There are several other Provinces around Arrakis which are advantageous for players wishing to build centres of research or recruitment. They also provide a Hegemony bonus for any of the faction controlling the Province therefore they are difficult and costly to capture — players are also in competition with other factions to control the Provinces as they are known to all of those on Arrakis.

These Provinces, therefore, will be difficult to capture for players in Multiplayer, but those controlling them will have the added Hegemony boost over other players and be able to use them to their advantage. Players should, in Multiplayer, therefore, seek to capture as many of these Special Provinces as they possibly can.
