Dune: Spice Wars Wiki

There are several Villages on Arrakis which players can take control of to increase their power on Arrakis and therefore, win the game. Most of these Villages are protected by local militia, but other Villages may fall under the control of other factions and will therefore be more difficult to take control of.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

At the beginning of the game, players will need to send out their Ornithopter to search Arrakis and discover Villages among other things, such as ruins.

Taking Control[edit | edit source]

A breakdown of different annexation costs.

Players will find it easier to take control of Villages that are controlled by local militia, not other factions. Clicking a Village will give you information about how many militia groups protect the Village to give an indication of how difficult it will be to take control of and therefore, which units players will need to use.

Furthermore, clicking the Village will give information about the Wind strength of that area so players can decide which Villages to take control of first; players are better suited to take control of Villages close to spice fields first.

Most players will take control of Villages by attacking them and defeating the local militia present there. To do this they must select the units they wish to use and right click on the Village. Then, the military units selected will move into the Village and battle with the militia. If the player wins, they can take control of the Village by clicking the flag above.

Players also have the ability to pillage the village once they have defeated the militia. This will gift them with spoils, such as Solaris, but will make the Village unusable for a month.

Taking control of a Village requires a certain amount of Authority, and this differs on various factors. There is a flat rate of 20 Authority for taking control of a Village, but certain other factors can make the takeover more costly:

  • Villages further from the main base, such as Arrakeen or Carthag are more costly; this ranges between a cost of 5-100 Authority dependent on the distance;
  • Owned villages cost which is computed based on the formula: T * (3.5 + D/6), where T = number of towns & D = distance from the main base as per above'
  • Enemy village cost which can be computed based on the equation: 15 + (D/20) * T; where T & D are the number of towns and distance from the main base respectively.

Peaceful Annexation[edit | edit source]

Players that chose House Atreides as their faction of choice are able to take control of a Village via Peaceful Annexation. This allows them to take control without taking their units into battle, but takes longer with an average time of 15 days. Players can still opt to attack villages instead, but the Peaceful Annexation ability is useful if players do not have a strong military presence on Arrakis.
