Lingar Bewt is an extremely knowledgeable member of the Smugglers; he acts as their de-facto watermaster. Given Bewt's knowledge and skills, he holds sway over many of the graben villages throughout Arrakis and is therefore useful to those seeking to make alliances with the townspeople of Arrakis.
