Dune: Spice Wars Wiki

Hegemony is a measure of a factions control over Arrakis; as a result, it is a resource that can be accrued, but cannot be spent or exchanged. Players build Hegemony as they progress naturally through the game, and increasing their Hegemony means they unlock further bonuses.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Building Hegemony is an easy task. Players will naturally build Hegemony as they progress through the game, but there are specific things that will aid players in building more Hegemony.

Expanding control of Arrakis through taking control of villages and winning battles is the easiest way to increase Hegemony. This is due to the fact that the more villages you control, the greater physical control you have over the landscape of Arrakis.

Moreover, players naturally build Hegemony when they pay their spice tax to CHOAM; an action that each player must do regardless of the faction their faction.

Forming alliances with Sietches around Arrakis and getting resolutions passed in your favour within the Landsraad will also boost Hegemony to your advantage.

Bonuses and Victory[edit | edit source]

Increasing Hegemony is one way to gain bonuses within the game; different factions have different bonuses that they unlock when reaching specific milestones:

  • At 5,000 Hegemony, the Smugglers gain an extra council vote within the Landsraad.
  • At 10,000 Hegemony, the Smugglers can train Mercenaries.
  • A faction reaching 2,000 Hegemony will be able to construct District Buildings which will aid them in their progression and their control of Arrakis.[1]

Hegemony is one of the current victory conditions of the game. When a player collects 50,000 Hegemony points, they are considered to have most of the control of Arrakis and therefore will be crowned victor of the game.

Notes and Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The original win condition for Hegemony was set at 50,000; this was reduced to 30,000 in the Conquest patch.[2]
